Musical Emotions

Think about it.  What is the soundtrack of your life?  What songs inspire you?  Enrage you?  Comfort you?  Allow you to be yourself?  Release you?  Allow you to cry?
I could go on, but I think you get the picture.  I want the bloggers and readers to think about the following emotions:

Anger/ Rage

Sadness

Happiness

Loneliness

Comfort

Relief

Pride

Loss

Think about how you deal with each emotion, or a moment in time where you felt this emotion.  What was that moment?  What were you going through?  How old?
Many deal with life and emotions through music: an artist/ song/ album.  For this post please take each of the emotions listed above (or others, if you want to talk about them) and write a little blurb about each one.  What was your experience with this emotion?  I then would like you to tag a musical piece to the emotion.  At least one song or artist.  Briefly explain why the song/ artist fits with your particular emotion, then please either attach the music video (through a link) or attach a picture that show this song/ artist that is related to the emotion.

READERS and BLOGGERS: This is a multiple week project.  We will tackle one of the emotions each week on our blog.  The posts will reflect the emotion of the week.  Thanks for reading.

This week it pained me to learn that a musical genius passed away.  He was an inspiration to me during all emotional phases of my life.  I was introduced to him by a very good friend of mine, named Kevin.  I met him my freshman year at Penn State.  Kevin had a giant wall poster of this musical artist and how I knew the artist, I never really paid much attention to this artist.  Kevin played the music in his room and often talked about how influential this artist was to him.  I had a lot of respect for Kevin and appreciated his kindness, wisdom and time he took to get to know me, a freshman.  I was lonely and missing my family and had a hard time making friends (first time in my life) and this sophomore took the time to get to know me and help me out (in a time when I was really struggling).  First of all, thank you Kevin for that.  Secondly, thank you for introducing me to this icon in music, that I never gave a chance of liking.  It was through Kevin's kindness that I became introduced to this artist and have enjoyed his music ever since that lonely fall in 1993, my freshman year at PSU.  I have listened to this artist's music during all phases of emotions listed above.  I will be dedicating this blog to my friend Kevin, but also to the artist Kevin introduced me too.  The artist I am speaking of is none other than Prince.  The loss of a true legend.  For the final emotion listed above (loss), I will be doing a multiple song example.  This truly is an emotion I am feeling at this time.

What is your Theme Song?

Theme Song Assignment
How many of you put on your favorite song to pump you up?  Or maybe it is a song you bring out for special occasions, just for the right moment?  What's the occasion?  A game you want to win.  A test you want to ace.  A moment in time you want to capture through a song.  A memory you want to mark with a song.  Whatever the reason for the song, it has meaning to you and you play it for a specific meaning and feeling.
Please take some time to think about your theme song.  What's the occasion?  Who is the artist?  What does the song mean to you?  Why is this your theme song?  Please find the lyrics to the song and put them on a document.  Please find a You Tube clip of the song/ video and put it on your document.  Then talk about the song.  Describe to our blog readers why this is your theme song.  I look forward to hearing, reading and viewing all your theme songs.  Please make sure they are school appropriate.

Mr. Epple's Theme Song:
Megadeth: Rust in Peace (Album)
I am picking an entire album as my theme song, or rather theme album.  I got this album when I was in high school and played the tape till it ran out.  I played it for the love of the music at first, then it turned into something else.  I played it before a game.  When I was sad, angry, happy.  I played it at parties, by myself, in my car, while washing my car, when I was studying (occasionally), actually anytime.  This is my album I listen to for all occasions.  I listen to it, to this day.  Now, I own a copy in a CD version.  Actually, I own 2 copies.  The songs all have political meaning, and I agree with some.  There is a story behind each song, which I learned later in life.  I took time to read the lyrics and read articles about what the songs originally meant.  They are well thought out and intelligent.  Regardless, the songs on Rust in Peace are my theme songs.  Here is a link to the album and songs.  Here is also a playlist of the songs.

1. Holy Wars.... The Punishment Due
2. Hangar 18
3. Take No Prisoners
4. Five Magics
5. Poison Was the Cure
6. Lucretia
7. Tornado of Souls
8. Dawn Patrol
9. Rust in Peace....Polaris

Brett Moore’s Theme Song
The Eye Of The Tiger
I listen to this song before my baseball and basketball games to motivate me. The name of the band who writes this song is named “Survivor”. The meaning of this song to me is about rising to the challenge no matter who your opponent is. It is my theme song because it pumps me up, and it also motivates me. I have watched all of the Rocky movies with my dad, and heard many songs. This one stands out the most to me, the beat of the song gets me going. This song is also my theme song because it gets me excited, I can also picture myself of being Rocky. I also like listening to this song because it reminds me of watching all of the Rocky movies with my dad. We have all of the movies, it has become one of my favorite movies just like my dad. This song will always remind me of my dad.

Eye of the Tiger

By Survivor
Risin' up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance
Now I'm back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive
So many times, it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive
It's the eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge
Of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all with the
Eye of the tiger
Face to face, out in the heat
Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry
They stack the odds
Still we take to the street
For the kill with the skill to survive
It's the eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge
Of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all with the
Eye of the tiger
Risin' up straight to the top
Had the guts, got the glory
Went the distance
Now I'm not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive
It's the eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge
Of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all with the
Eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger

  Theme Song

My theme song is Shipping of to Boston by the Dropkick Murphys. This is my theme song because the beat of it just pumps me up. I listen to it if I am on my way to a game or if I just lost a game. It reminds my of my greatest moments in my sports career. One of them was when on my little league team we went undefeated and in the first world series game i pumped everyone up with a single up the middle. Another moment was when I pitched my team into the state finals of williamsport.

I think the song it explains itself with its name (i'd love to change the world). It  is refreshing it is fun not just one but all to me. It reminds me of moments in history that have change all of us for ever and good moments in my sports career. For eg. one sunday i had a soccer game i scored a hattrick and one was the winning goal(we won 6-5) which i listened to this song before. It explains me and what i do.

The song I chose to be my theme song is “Hall of Fame” by will.i.am. The reason I chose this song because it makes me feel like I can do anything. It makes me feel good about myself and I can do anything if I try. This song theme is if you put effort into something you want to do you can end up in the hall of fame. I listen to this song when i am sad or need a little emotional boost.

Here is the lyrics to my song:
Yeah, You could be the greatest
You can be the best
You can be the King Kong banging on your chest
You could beat the world
You could beat the war
You could talk to God, go banging on his door
You can throw your hands up
You can beat the clock
You can move a mountain
You can break rocks
You can be a master
Don't wait for luck
Dedicate yourself and you can find yourself
Standing in the hall of fame
And the world's gonna know your name
'Cause you burn with the brightest flame
And the world's gonna know your name
And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame
You could go the distance
You could run the mile
You could walk straight through hell with a smile
You could be the hero
You could get the gold
Breaking all the records that thought, never could be broke

S is for Success

What is success?
According to the dictionary....
the accomplishment of an aim or purpose (goal)

Sounds great to me, but what does it mean to me?  People can be successful in their careers, personal life, financially, spiritually, etc.  I believe success means different things to different people.  I will not put someone down who looks at riches as success; or being the president of a company as success, or being an athlete that goes pro as success.  Great examples.

My understanding of success is summed up in a few things.  I believe if one does their best, each day, at living a positive, learning from their mistakes type, hard working, responsible, respectful and thoughtful life: then they are successful.  If you look at what each letter of the S.A.I.L.S. stands for, I believe living your life with a focus on those standards is success:

S is for Service
A is for Acceptance
I is for Integrity
L is for leadership
These will eventually lead to Success.

I try and do my best everyday at my job,at being a good father, good husband, respectful person, responsible person, kind person, understanding person and thoughtful person.  When I look myself in the mirror every night, if I can do that and feel I accomplished the prior, than that was a successful day, which leads to successful weeks, which leads to successful months, years and eventually a lifetime.

That is my definition of Success.

What does success mean to me. It means that you finished something that you started. So I started to build a computer and finish it soon. To me that is Success. Or something more serious like getting all A’s. I don’t have a alot on this one but that is what it means to me.Download, Successful, Tick

What success means?
Success means the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

What success means to me?
Success means to achieve or to win, while having a lot of fun and to be excited.

Success Is when you try something and you actually do it like trying A5 at first I didn't know what to do but now I do.Like when a when a new group finally sucseeds in themselves and finally wins a gameIvan Matiyev - Way to sucess

Success

A successful life looks like having a great job, a nice house, and great family and friends to support you and your ideas so you can succeed more in life. Also having a great life does not mean you did not succeed maybe you did not get the right wife and she threw you out with nothing and you got her all that nice stuff from you succeeding. Because they might use you for your money and your house so they can throw you out and keep it all.  Maybe succeeding in life is not always the answer.

Success

Success to me is succeeding at something you love and what is near and dear to you.Like me winning a soccer game or winning a nerf war.You could also get success if your favorite soccer team that youve cheered on ever since you were 2 years old. Also if you gave a lot of money to a charity and that charity had gone to dirt poor to mustang rich.

Nicholas Rapchuck
Success means many things for me. First it means to have a well paying job. Also it is made through hard work and accomplishments. Lastly the most important thing to have success in life is to be HAPPY. And to reach
your life goals. In conclusion success means many things to me
Some people that achieve success

Brady Lattanzi
Success can mean a lot like Michael Jordan, Tom brady, Jackie Robinson, Bobby Orr, Lionel Messi. Time it means rising above achieving more than others. the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

Daniel Hafey
                                                 Success

What success means to me is when someone works at something for a long time and eventually achieve the goal they were working for. An example at our school would be someone who studied for a very important test and they get an 100 on it. I have had success when I was on a little league team and we went undefeated through the whole season.

Zachary Oliver
Success
What it means to me is that you have accomplished something that you wanted to do for a long time. Say you wanted to be the best at sports then try your hardest and t6he success that you did will make you  happy.

Mr. Epple
In creating this week's blog about leadership, I spent quite a long time putting it together.  Reason being, I couldn't stop.  I researched and found more and more information on Leadership, leadership qualities and video examples.  I wanted to include more, but was worried it might be too lengthy for the readers and I don't want to lose interest in any of our topics.  Everything I put into this week's blog are my feelings on leadership.  I don't want to restate what the blog has already said.  Without leaders we would be in trouble.  We need strong leaders, with integrity, who commit themselves to service,  for the common good.  These leaders need to be transparent.  They need to gain their followers through respect, not fear.  They need to lead by example.  Inspire us!  Lead us!  Treat others with kindness and respect.  Be honest.  Clearly communicate.  Doing this, will make others WANT to follow them.  As a teacher, father, man and just plain old human being, I try and live my life this way.  Being a leader is not easy, but it is necessary to accomplish greater things.  I hope you all have great leaders in your life.  By the way, everyone has the potential to be a great leader.  Find it in yourself.........

I would like to end this blog by giving you some examples of leaders that have changed my life for the better.  Thank you for reading.

Leadership = The action of  leading a group of people or an organization.Like being the one who is like the captin of a team or a ship. There the ones with the plans and the people that can lead your team to victory.
A leader should be always truthful, trustable and especially a hard worker.A leader should always try their hardest even if they win or lose.To be a leader of your team 1st you have to know your team and trust them then you have to be the best you can be.

Leadership quote | by

Brady Lattanzi
Leadership

Leadership means alot to me not just a good teacher or something but a helping hand. It demonstrates INTEGRITY;to go out of your way and help. To me a teacher is a great example of leadership.Leadership is both a research area and a practical skill, regarding the ability of an individual or organization to "lead" or guide other individuals, teams, or entire organizations

`
Caleb Grace
Leadership to me is like if you and your friends get into a fight and you stand up and take all the hits and your friends don't get hurt or if one of your friends is drowning in the ice cold water you jump in and save him from drowning

Daniel Hafey
  Leadership
What leadership means to me is when someone is taking things into their own hands and doing something good with that. An example would be if someone saw a fight and then went into break it up.
